A Valentine’s Day Treat

Valentine’s Day is less than 3 weeks away and it’s time to figure out what to wear for the big date night.  For my husband and I we are usually pretty low key since we tend to celebrate February 22nd since that is the day that we officially became a couple, but that still doesn’t mean we don’t like to enjoy the love of the day.  This year we will be having dinner and then going to see the Cirque du Soleil “Toruk” show; it is based off of Avatar, so it should be a really fantastic show.

For my look this year I am sticking with a favorite red shift dress of mine that I got at Target from Missoni.  It is made of gorgeous silk that feels like butter on your skin, and my black over the knee boots from DSW.  The weather has been feeling more like fall in Houston, so this look actually works perfectly by providing coverage while still keeping it comfortable and airy.

One of my favorite style of cakes right now are the naked cakes.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love icing like anyone else, but this look and taste is just so perfect I can’t help but want this style for any special occasion to come.

Macaroons…a favorite to many right now and a perfect tiny treat!!  Choose from the classic colors of white, pink and red, or go sudbtle and simple with ivory and gold to enhance the Valentine’s Day theme.

But who also doesn’t love tiny cakes that you can eat with one bite. 🙂  Winks by Erica will definitely make your Valentine’s Day even that more sweeter.

Casual Red & Black Hunter Boot Look

For Christmas this year my husband got me a pair of black Hunter boots.  I remember when I bought my first pair last year (red version) for my birthday and he immediately saw them and said, ” You are going to wear those a handful times.”  Now forward 12 months later and I have my second pair. 🙂  He finally admitted he was wrong considering I wear my red Hunter boots as many times as I possibly can…P.S they are great for all the UH games I go too!!

I ended up pairing them with another Christmas gift my husband gave me last year, which was my Michael Kors red satchel.  I linked a similar style below since they no longer carry this one in stores.

This look has been on repeat in my closet for a multitude of reasons; comfort, cuteness, and the super casual factor.  If I end up wanting to take it from day to night I can easily swap out my Michael Kors bag with a clutch and add OTK boots.

My Kendra Scott earrings were also a birthday purchase for myself last year.  I tend to spoil myself because it is 2 1/2 weeks from Christmas and I remember when I was younger not getting as many gifts because it was right around the corner….that’s the last thing you want to hear as a child. lol

Pink Blush Maternity Dress

I had the great opportunity to collaborate with Pink Blush Maternity on this vibrant magenta bell sleeve dress.  They not only bring the latest trends to the mom-to-be that include style, affordability and comfort, but tons of their clothes are totally wearable before and after pregnancy.  An extreme plus.

As a soon to be mother with 9 weeks to go til Sofia Everly is here, I am realizing how much harder it is getting to fit into clothes.  I have definitely been pretty lucky with my pregnancy, on the fact that I have only had to buy pants/tights and one maternity top up until this point…please don’t hate me. 😉  Even with that being said, and Houston’s “winter” being more like a mild fall, it has allowed me to continue to wear my favorite shift dresses and still be completely comfortable in my own skin.  A total win in my book!!
